Local Lore at The Henry Ford: The Rouge Past, Present and Future
January 16 & February 20, 2010 (10am-1pm)
Visit the Ford Rouge Factory Tour to take part in this Junior Girl Scout program to earn their entire Local Lore badge. Discover the impact of the automotive industry on Michigan and the world. Investigate the stories that fill the historic factory complex and explore the role the Rouge has played in our community and its continued evolution.
   

Meets badge requirements: 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 10
By attending this program, scouts will be able to meet all the badge requirements and will also get the badge at their visit.

* First bus for this program departs from The Henry Ford at 10am. Buses are loaded on a first come first serve basis with buses departing at 10:00am and 10:20am. Your scout program will wrap up at 1pm. You are welcome to remain at the tour after the program, for as long as you wish. Buses return from the Visitor Center regularly with the last bus returning to The Henry Ford at 5pm.

what to bring, what to wear
The Ford Rouge Factory Tour experience is composed of a self-guided five-part tour which includes a look at the history of the Rouge through video footage; a virtual reality theater experience; a gallery of classic and current vehicles produced at the Rouge complex; an overview of the factory’s living roof; and a walking tour of approximately 1/4-mile above the assembly area where Ford F-150s are made. Dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes.

The site is handicap accessible with rentals available on site for persons with special needs. Strollers and wheelchairs will be provided at no additional cost.

Private vehicles are not allowed and tours are only accessible from scheduled buses which depart exclusively from The Henry Ford. Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited in both theaters and the Dearborn Truck Plant. Photography is allowed in the Legacy Gallery and Observation Deck.

Currently there are no eating establishments at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour. If you are looking to dine during your visit, you can utilize the Michigan Café at Henry Ford Museum. You do not need museum admission to dine at the Michigan Café.

The Henry Ford is located in Dearborn, Michigan on the corner of Village Road and Oakwood Boulevard, just west of the Southfield Freeway (M-39) and south of Michigan Avenue (US-12).

From the East or West via I-94:
Take I-94 to the Oakwood Blvd exit; go north on Oakwood. The Henry Ford is 2.5 miles from the exit on the corner of Village Rd and Oakwood Blvd.
From the South via I-75:
Exit to northbound Southfield Freeway (M-39), drive 4.1 miles to Oakwood Boulevard (Exit 4). Left on Oakwood and drive 1.8 miles.
From the North via Southfield Road (or I-96):
Take Southfield Freeway (M-39) South 4.5 miles past I-96 and exit at Michigan avenue (Exit 6). Continue on the Southfield service drive (veer left) for .5 miles. At the first stop light, turn right onto Village Road (through the iron gates) and drive 3/4 miles.
